Private Sector Window (PSW) targets companies currently present in Kakuma and those willing to set up businesses in Kakuma and Kalobeyei areas.
The Private Sector Window will support established companies in implementing commercially viable and sustainable businesses that have the potential to raise incomes, provide goods and services, create jobs and/or improve living standards in both the camp and host community. Private sector companies will compete for performance-based grants, which will also require co-financing from the companies. Technical assistance may also be provided to the successful bidders. The Private Sector Window will include a gender component, prioritising business models that address gender-related constraints by supporting women’s economic advancement through the creation of new entrepreneurial and job opportunities, as well as improving their living standards.

My name is Zarga Cherif;
I am the founder of Djahiz Food in the agroalimentaire sector. I have developed and refined my products over the past 5 years with a focus on high quality nutritive traditionally Chadian natural products but packaged into something more commercial.
My main products are:
– Red sorghum, red African beans enriched with moringa’s leaves powder, I am the originator of this idea and won 2nd prize 2 years ago at the International Agricultural Expo SAFAGRI. I spent 2 years developing this mix and removing the negative stigma that surrounds this under appreciated superfood (sorghum).
I also package
-Powdered Hibiscus
-Ginger Candy
-Grilled salted Chadian nuts
-Chadian Coffee(this is my only product that is not fully produced in Chad because I buy imported coffee beans from (Central Africa republic Keenan coffee can be use instead)
My focus is nutrition and my long term goal is to produce my sorghum flour product for malnutrition in Chad, I already supply one local NGO and they have had formidable results with malnourished children in refugee camps.
I’m really in need of technical , financial, training support to take my company to the next level on how to reach an international market for natural products made in chad.
I would like to thank the panelists for answering all the questions in a clear and simple way for a francophone like me to understand.

We are talking with partners in Kenya about distribution of SUNSPOT solar electric cooking systems (www.sunspotpv.com). Not sure we have time to do something this year, but we would like to stay involved for the future opportunities
